Empowering Widows in Dhiwa Constituency – A Rainy Day Doesn’t deter their commitment

Amid heavy rains, a group of widows from Kanyadoto ward in Ndhiwa Constituency showcased unwavering commitment by attending an engagement at Kalamindi Centre, hosted by Grassroot Women & Politics. This event shed light on the resilience and determination of women to access knowledge and information, emphasizing their eagerness to participate in leadership and political processes.

The Gathering:

Despite the challenging weather conditions, the widows gathered at Kalamindi Centre to participate in discussions that covered essential topics such as leadership, political processes, confidence building, and public speaking skills. The fact that they braved the heavy rains to be part of this event speaks volumes about their dedication to gaining the skills necessary for active participation in their community.

The Widows’ Perspective:

During the engagement, the widows expressed their desire to be more vocal on issues that matter to them within the community. They acknowledged that while they were passionate about making a difference, they lacked the knowledge and skills to contribute to the discourse effectively. This honest admission highlights the importance of initiatives that focus on empowering women with the tools they need to navigate the complexities of leadership and community involvement.

Information to Empower:

Post-engagement, the widows were armed with valuable information to ponder upon and share with fellow community members. The newfound knowledge of leadership, political processes, and communication skills has equipped them to articulate their thoughts and concerns effectively. Empowered with this information, these women are now better positioned to actively engage in discussions that impact their lives and the well-being of their community.

Amplifying Women’s Voices:

The essence of the event aligns with the belief that women’s voices should be heard in various spaces, and their suggestions should be taken seriously. The slogan, “Nothing for Women, Without Women,” encapsulates the spirit of the initiative, emphasizing the crucial role women play in shaping communities and societies.

Acknowledgments:

A heartfelt acknowledgment goes to the Assistant Chief, Benta Ramogi, who ensured representation despite prior engagements by sending Mr. Joseph Guoma, a respected village elder. This gesture underscores the collaborative effort required to uplift and empower women, with community leaders actively supporting initiatives that foster knowledge and skill development

The commitment of the widows from the Kanyadoto ward in Ndhiwa Constituency to attend the engagement at Kalamindi Centre, even in adverse weather conditions, reflects a broader dedication to personal growth and community impact. As we celebrate and support initiatives like Grassroot Women & Politics, we contribute to a more inclusive and empowered society, where the voices of women are not just heard but also valued and acted upon.
